    Background:  The Departmennt of Pathology was established in the year 1979 to cope up with the clinical pathological and histopathological work for the patients. The investigations are designed in such a way as to support the Department of Clinical Research for confirming the diagnosis and also assess the prognosis of the disease and response to therapy.

    Completed -  Multicentric open labeled clinical trial on Neerizhivu ( Diabetes Mellitus )

    Current  -

    1. Clinical evaluation of coded drug OA-1 and Vatha Kesari Thylam in the management of Osteoarthritis.

 2. Clinical study on herbal drug in Venpulli.                          

    Future plan - An open labeled clinical trial on Peenisam ( Sinusitis )

      Urine analysis - Albumin, sugar, deposit, bile salts, bile pigments, ketone bodies
Stool examination - Ova, cyst, amoeba, occult blood.
Blood examination - Complete blood cell count, hemoglobin %, total count, differential count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, red blood cell count, white blood cell count, platelet count, packed cell volume, mean corpuscular volume, blood grouping.

Mantoux test to identify tubercular prime cases
Blood VDRL test to rule out sexually transmitted diseses
Blood smear study to identify Malarial and Filarial parasites
Skin smear study to rule out Leprosy and Fungal infection
Vaginal smear study to identify early malignancy and infections
Sputum examination for AFB
